Private Bus Strike Called Off


Tiruvananthapuram – Private Bus owners called off the strike. The government will have a discussion with the bus owners on Wednesday. The meeting will be held at the residence of the Transport Minister Aryadan Mohammed, The strike has been called off after the talks with Union Minister K.V. Thomas, and T.N Prathapan MlA.

In order to control the Killer vehicles competition on roads, the law – enforcing authorities have launched extensive checking of buses to crack down on speeding buses. The Motor vehicles Department (MVD) wants to install speed governors on all heavy vehicles. This strike was announced after an urgent meeting of the Private Bus Owners Federation held on Sunday in Kochi.

The federation said that Motor Vehicle department sudden clampdown on private buses is arbitrary an unacceptable. They also accused that there is no one to control the KSRTC Buses. But at the same time, MVD informed that they are checking all the vehicles in order to ensure the safety and security. The inspection is an ongoing process. The Bus Owners argument about the difficulties for installing speed governors is purely a lie, Said the officials.
