Salman Khan’s hit and run case. Verdict to come today

Sanjay Mumbai Sessions court today is taking up the case of Salman Khan for giving the final verdict. The incident related to the case occurred in 2002. The court will decide today if he has to be punished for ‘culpable homicide not amounting to death’. If the court decides to put the blame of this nature, the minimum punishment will be 10 years’ imprisonment. The original charge against him was for rash and negligent driving which caused the death of one person and injury to four others. This would have given him a sentence of 2 years’ imprisonment. But this January, after examining 17 witnesses the Metropolitan Magistrate charged him for ‘culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Later in March this year Salman Khan filed an appeal against this and asked for a retrial. In 2002 Salman Khan’s vehicle ran over some people sleeping on the foot path killing one person and injuring four others.
