Kochi: In Sheela Murder case the death penalty decided for 2nd accused, Kanakaraj is reduced to life sentence by the High Court.Court allowed the decision by lower court releasing the third accused in the case.The main accused in the case Sampath died in police custody. The court observed that this can not be considered as one “rarest among the rare” and hence reduced the death penalty.
It was on 22nd March 2010 that Sheela was attacked and killed by cutting her throat at her home. Her mother was also attacked and ornaments were taken.
