Chennai: Noted poet and lyricist Vaali (T.S Rangarajan-82) passed away following discomforts on old age last evening. He was in treatment for last one month. He was active in tamil film industry as lyricist for almost 50 years .There are more that 10,000 filims songs to his credit. He wrote songs for M.G R till new hero Dhanush. The ever hit songs of Rajini and Kamal Hassan, are Vaali’s cerations.

He was honored with Padmaashri by India Government in 2007. Had won National Award once and five times from the state for the best lyrics.

He came to the film industry in early sixties and continued active till his last. Born on 31st October 1931, he also had acted in films like Hi Ram, Sathya,Paarthale Paravesm and Poikal Kuthirai. He also served in Akkasavani. Many hit songs of Tamil were born out of his pen. The song sung by K.J Yesudas Ammave Vanangathe Uyirvillai in Mannan is one among the thousands of song   evidencing the great creativity and talent he had.
