Pinarayi Vijayan is the CPI (M) General Secretary and a prominent opposition Leader. The polit bureau member is a native of Kannur. He was the Ex Minister of Electric power and Co operatives , one of the accused in the SNC Lavalin case . When he was 26, he got elected from the Koothuparambu constituency to become the member of the Legislative Assembly in 1970. From 1998 he was the General Secretary of the CPI (M) and still working.
