New Higher Secondary: Rules Are To Be Followed: High Court


Kochi:Permitting new higher secondary schools or new batches in the state,should be on strictly following the Kerala Education Rules(KER) instructs High Court.The conditions in Chapter 5 of KER for permission to new schools is applicable to Higher Secondary also.
The Court said,it is not interfering in the government’s policy decisions but the rules can not be overlooked. The order was issued by Justice C.T Ravikumar deciding on 26 petitions received questioning the government decision to allow new batches in aided and government schools,in 142 panchayaths .The dispute was on upgrading 8 high schools in Northern districts alone and for Southern districts allowing new batches only. Since the first term is about to finish,the possibility to have new schools in this school year, following the rules is doubtful.
