Mulla Periyar -Newskerala — Mulla Periyar Dam Issue

NewDelhi: Tamil Nadu claims ownership over Mullaperiyar Dam in the last round of their hearing before Supreme Court. We will construct the new dam at our cost when it comes a need. said Tamil Nadu. Before the five member division bench they argued that now it is not necessary to build a new one.
The claim on ownership of the dam was raised as reply to the Court when asked what if the agreement is cancelled by Kerala. It was for the first time that Tamil Nadu put forward the consent for a new dam. But still they argue that it is not needed to construct a new one now because the existing dam is strong enough.
