Thiruvananthapuram:Eight companies gave the expression of interest for the Monorail projects planned for Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikkode.
In addition to foreign companies who are experts in monorail projects, there are consortium of Indian companies too,in expressing the interest in the project. 1st October is the last date for giving the expression of interest for participating in the tender.Bombardier from Canada, Scomi from Malaysia,and Hitachi from Japan are there for the tender.DMRC is responsible for evaluating the the eligibility of the companies and Tender processing.The company which gets the contract also has the responsibility to find funding to a certain percentage of the project cost.
The people of the state capital are much hopeful about the project which can solve the traffic problems in the city.The proposed mono rail project is on Karyavattom-Kesavadasapuram-Karamana route.The monorail runs on the rails which will be fitted on the pillars to be erected on the road medians.
