Kochi:For implementing plan proposed by the government in the budget as to help the poor,Mangalya Nidhi, government is squeezing the poor.The budget proposal was to collect the corpus fund from luxurious weddings.But the circular from Commercial Taxes department not even spares the small weddings.The responsibility to collect the amount from the luxury weddings is to the Kalyana Mandapams.The amount being collected is Rs. 5000/- whether it is Rs.2 lakhs or Rs. 10,000/- spent on weddings.Mangalya Nidhi was declared in the budget as the flagship project.But implementing the same with out any clear directives creates problem to the poor.
