Mathukutty is a returnee from Germany. Long back he went there to make money. He hails from Mid-Travancore. It is his story that Ranjith tries to tell. Mathukutty is stunned to see the social changes happened during his absence. Ranjith portrays it very impressively. Mammooty lives as Mathukutty in this movie. Initially Ranjith named the movie as ‘German Returned’ but changed it later. Mohanlal and Dileep appear as guest artists. The heroine is a newcomer Naila Usha. Other co-actors are Nedumudi Venu, Balachandra Menon, Sidhique, Prem Prakash, Nandu, Kottayam Nazeer, Kaviyoor Ponnamma and Meera Nandan. The picture is produced jointly by Santosh Sivan, Prithviraj and Shaji Natesan under the banner August Cinema. Shooting is in an advanced stage.
