Idukki Arch Dam


Idukki Arch Dam, Asia’s biggest Arch Dam of 555 feet height proudly standing between the two mountains – ‘Kuravanmala’ (839 meters) and ‘Kurathimala’ (925 meters ), across the river Periyar the dam lies close to the Cheruthoni Barrage. The stored water is used to produce electricity at the Moolamattom Power house, which is located inside nearby rocky caves.

How to reach

Road: The National Highway NH-49 (Kochi-Madura) passes through Idukki district.Thodupuzha, is the nearest town.
Rail : The nearest railway station is at Kottayam, located at a distance of 133 km.
Air: Cochin International Airport (132 kms away)
