Kottayam: The former minister K.Narayana Kurup (86) expired. He was one of the founding members of the Kerala Congress. He has also served as the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly for some time. His end came around 2 pm, in a private hospital at Kottayam. For quite some time he was struggling with old age problems. Towards the end, he caught pneumonia and dengue fever. These two together led to his end.
He was vigorously engaged in public service. He served as an MLA for over 26 years at different intervals. He was born in 1927 at Karukachaal as the son of K P Krishnan Nair and Kuttiamma. He has served as a college lecturer and an advocate before entering public service. His wife is K Leeladevi. Including Prof:N.Jayraj MLA, he has 4 sons and 3 daughters.
