What is all about

Yash Raj Film Third installment most popular Franchise Dhoom :3 delivers exactly what a mainstream entertainment friendly viewer asks for from this franchise. Expertly stylish, fast-paced, loaded with pulse rising death defying stunts, marvelous set pieces, super delicious Katrina and of course Aamir Khan in complete command. It has all the qualities of a big budget solid popcorn entertainment.

Aditya Chopra and Vijay Krishna Acharya have scripted a film to wholly tap the superstar actor’s saleability. Glamour, charisma, screen presence . Can call l it what you will . Aamir has tons of it, and he is flaunting it as never before in Dhoom 3. It works for the film at the hardshell level, more so in hero-centric mainstream Bollywood. It struggles to work once the show starts. The overt focus on packaging Aamir eats into everything and everyone else in the film. Dhoom 3 was built around a singular idea.

There are two Aamir Khans in ‘Dhoom 3’. Twin brothers out to have some serious fun at the cost of the city of Chicago where the cops, we get to know, are so dumb they need help from their Indian counterparts. Which is really ironical when considered in the context of present-day political relations between India and America.

The Story

Writers Vijay Krishna Acharya and Prakash Bharadwaj in the third installment take us to Chicago where A.C.P. Jay Dixit (Abhishek Bachchan) along with his funny colleague Ali (Uday Chopra) again take
up their duties as cop duo to nab Sahir the ‘Clown Thief’. And how the cat and mouse game keeps the guessing till the very end. What to look out for
But this, as we know, is Chicago as seen through the eyes of the architects of the ‘Dhoom’ franchise. Director Vijay Krishna Acharya who helms this avatar of ‘Dhoom’ furnishes a fabulous style to the proceedings. The frames are beautifully lit. Sudeep Chatterjee’s cinematography knows recognizes acknowledges and records beauty in every form, from the architecture to Katrina Kaif.

An out and out entertainer. Vijay Krishna Acharya makes no mistakes this time and boasts this highly awaited franchise with an engaging script that makes the audience guessing till the very end. Death
defying stunts especially with those bikes. Catchy dialogues. Spectacular sets that makes Dhoom: 3 a pulse rising chilling cop thief adventure that has a highly satisfying and spectacularly dazzling
individual part of Aamir Khan that stays with you for long and asks repeat viewing.

There is a secret that this intriguing film springs at us mid-point. Alas, the secret, if one may call it that, only contours the film’s most well-known fact: this is an Aamir Khan show all the way. And he gets to give his most over-the-top performance

The script imagines Aamir as Sahir, circus performer who is actually man on a mission. His motive in life is to use a special circus trick to get back at the man responsible for his father’s death. The plan of revenge involves robbing a high-profile bank.

Vijay Krishna Acharya sticks to the basics shows his outmost loyalty to the genre dosent go for any layers and while he makes us jump out of our seats with those action shocks draws out those soft funny
moments with finesse and even easily manages a touch of romance into the yarn with commendable ease.

Technicalities are first rate. Sudeep Chatterjee cinematography is a treat to the eye. Editing by Ritesh Soni is crisp. Sumit Basu’s production designing, Adri Siriwatt art direction is spectacular. Manoshi Nath, Rushi Sharma and Anaita Shroff costume designing is chic.

Pritam Chakraborty music adds memento to the adrenaline rush. Title track, ‘malang’ and ‘kamli’ are a take home.

Aamir Khan: you know how serious he is about his choices. And you know how really he works hard on his characters he plays. In Dhoom: 3 Aamir is in great shape and gives a brilliantly mature performance. His finesse to enter into the skin of the character is well known but here he as an actor/performer does to the franchise what a superstar should do- he demands a repeat viewing and that is the biggest USP of this installment. His fans and audience in general will go gaga. Aamir holds the key to the film’s efficacy. And how much you like this segment of the Dhoom franchise depends entirely on how well you accept Aamir’s , ceaseless smirk, constantly arched eyebrows etc.

Abhishek Bachchan: is in complete element and seems to be enjoying the fun. Highly entertaining.

Uday Chopra: is very funny and successfully makes you giggle helping your pulse rate to settle down after those adrenaline actions.

Katrina Kaif: boy she was never so delicious. The lass who has grown up tremendously as an actress has worked a lot for this and it shows. In ‘Kamli’ Katrina is bewitchingly sexy. Truly it’s impossible to
shift your eyes from her. Fabulous.

Jackie Shroff leaves his mark.

What Not

The second half drags a bit. More confrontation and one up show between Aamir and Abhishek would have being better. We wanted to see more of Katrina. Those looking for logic and intellect in such genre
of films may find it amusing.

The barely-there plotline lets you understand the true intention of this film. Dhoom 3, unlike the prequels, is not about antiheroes driven by sheer lust for money. There is old-fangled revenge drama at work here.

Baap ka maut and bete ka badla have been integral to Bollywood themes forever.

Dhoom 3 is just about reimagining that hackneyed plot on a spectacular scale. Everything is naturally tuned to fit that rhythm. The setting is Chicago, although it could have been Chinchpokli. For impact,
It’s monster madness, manufactured to leave you in a daze. It’s mammoth dumbness guaranteed to be out of your mind no sooner you hit the exit door. In the end of it, if you still like Dhoom 3, it is because of Aamir. There is a vital twist about his role in the film that bars any discussion on his performance. All we’ll say is go watch Dhoom 3 for Aamir. Dhoom: 3 is a top-notch popcorn entertainment that demands a repeat run thanks to the powers of Aamir Khan as an actor and those dazzling stunts that take the audience to a hysteria.
