Aranmula Boat Race


The Aranmula Boat Race is a water fiesta organized during Onam in the month of August – September This is one of the oldest river boat festival in Kerala, the south western state of India. It take place at Aranmula near the Hindu Temple Sree Parthasarathy Temple dedicated to Lord Krishna as the divine charioteer of Arjuna. The temple is approximately 1700 years old. . It is situated on the banks of the river Pampa This is about 128 km from Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala. And at a distance of about 16 km from the Pathanamthitta. In the boat race the snake boats move in pairs to the rhythm of full – throated singing and shouting watched by the exciting crowd.
