S. Janaki is an Indian singer who is well-known for her voice intonation, is celebrating her 75th birthday today. She was born in a Telugu speaking Brahmin family in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. She has sung in many Indian languages mostly in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi. She is fondly known as “The Nightingale of the South”. She has won four National Film Awards and 31 Different State Film Awards. She was announced as as the Padma Bushan by the Government of India in 2013 but she rejected it. Her collaboration with S.P. Balasubramanyam and Ilayaraaja are the most popular soundtracks in South India.
