This year seems to be very lucky for fans of Dr.Vishnuvardhana, as the waiting for the 3-year long battle over land comes to an end. The paperwork relating to the allotment of 2 acres of land adjoining the Vishnu Samadhi was handed over to Dr. Bharathi Vishnuvardhana by the Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah, in the presence of the KFCC President Shri Vijayakumar. The Karnataka CM told the press that Dr.Vishnuvardhana was very special to the Kannada film industry and that he has talked to the family to get started on the construction of the Dr.Vishnu Memorial.
Dr.Vishnuvardhana was cremated near the 2-acre land, next to the Abhiman Studio on Mysore Road on 31 December, 2009. The land was sanctioned by the then CM H.D.Kumaraswamy, but the allotment got awry amidst the twist and turns in the official red tape.
Dr.Bharathi, wife of Dr.Vishnuvardhana and actor Anirudh, their son-in-law are satisfied and happy with the turn out of the events. “The extra land will help us develop the Vishnuvardhan memorial, which will include a photo gallery, library, meditation hall and projection hall. We have also set a proposal for another 2 acres of land for other social work in the name of my husband”, Dr.Bharathi said.
