Veliyath Bhargavan


Veliyath Bhargavan was born in 1928. He became the communist party member in 1949. Veliyath Bhargavan who is the graduate and served as state vice president of students federation during 1950 – 52. He had represented Chadayamangalam constituency in the Kerala Assembly in 1957 and 1960. When the party got split , He stood firm with the party along with M N Govindan Nair, T.V Thomas and R Sugadhan .

He was a member of the CPI national council since 1971. He had served as the party’s state secretary from 1998 to November 14 2010 . He was the state secretary for almost 12 years. In 2010 he stepped down from the post citing poor health and gave the post to CK Chandrappan. He is one among the rare communist person who has good knowledge in Sanskrit, mythology and epics . . He is the leader of impeccable integrity, who is known for his rigid idealistic stances.
