About 50 per cent of the designers are student designers from different parts of India with several fashion designing institutes participating." The FMN Fashion Pageant which was to be held two years ago and was postponed due to technical reasons will finally see the light of day this year. Over 50 dedicated photographers and 20 videographers working in shifts along with a crew of over 200 technicians, light men and others will record the event for posterity. The almost circular and winding ramp would be about a kilometer long and will be able to accommodate at least 200 models at any given time. About 500 media persons from all over the world are expected to arrive in Goa to report the event which will be attended by over 25,000 specially invited guests over the 4 days. The venue has been kept a top secret for now, said one of the organizers. Says Rajesh Singh of the FMN Fashion Pageant, "We have written to the Guinness World Records (GWR) for details regarding the World's longest or continuous fashion show. To the best of our knowledge, the longest fashion show record is for approximately 24 hours. We will attempt to break that record. And in case the GWR does not have such a record category, we will set a new record for the longest continuous fashion show. Our application forwarded in June this year is pending with the GWR and we are awaiting their feedback. Fashion designers, models, choreographers, accessory designers and manufacturers and others from the fashion, textile, apparel and jewelry industry who would like to be part of this event are requested to contact fmn.fashion.pageant at gmail.com. "We are doing it for charity. To support Indian tailors, small designers, artisans, craftsmen, etc. The theme and focus is on Indian Traditional Outfits. The 95-odd designers will attempt to create and display designs and outfits including footwear, headgear and accessories from the 26 Indian states. There will be western wear on display too, but the focus is on Indian wear." he explained but did not elaborate on the exact venue or location for the event. A fashion bazaar will host about a 100 stalls for designers, garment and accessory manufacturers and others from the Apparel and Textile industry. Singh said Indian craftsmen and tailors in small towns and cities lead a pathetic and poor life and the show aims to spur demand from the small and unorganized sector and bring international buyers in direct contact with smaller manufacturers. An adjudicator from the Guinness World Records will be present during the entire event and will verify the facts of the record before handing over the official certificate for the World Record, said Rajesh Singh explaining that it would be a continuous fashion show without any break. While the international tourist season in Goa starts in October-November each year, the FMN Fashion Pageant is expected to bring in over 50,000 international tourists and about 2 lakh domestic tourists during August-end and September with an array of after parties and other musical sub events which will form part of the main event.
