After the success of ‘Chennai Express’, rumors were around that all is not well between Rohit Shetty and his favourite leading man Ajay Devgan. Though both of them together had delivered hits like the ‘Golmaal’ series and ‘Singham’, Rohit’s record-breaking collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan had set tongues wagging, casting doubts over the future of ‘Singham 2’.
On Tuesday, they made the decision to co-produce the continuation to ‘Singham’. The first episode was produced by Reliance Entertainment and Ajay Devgan with Rohit in the director’s chair but now the filmmaker is producing the sequel with Ajay who will also top line the cast. The female lead is yet to be decided.
A source close to the development told TOI, “The corporate house in question will merely present the film. Ajay and Rohit share a great relationship and this takes it one step further.”
Buzz suggested that Rohit was not keen to collaborate with the corporate house and was planning to produce the film himself with Bajirao. Added the source, “Rohit had creative differences with the corporate house the first time around and this time he made it clear to them that he did not want any interference. Ajay had to step in that time to play peacemaker. Now, Ajay and Rohit can do it their way.”
