Price Increase Is not A New Phenomenon – Vayalar Ravi

Kozhikode – The Rising prices are not a new Phenomenon said the Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi. He said it is not the result of any wrong policies of the Government. Both the Union and state governments were making earnest efforts to check inflation and are working their best to bring the prices of essential commodities under control,” he said this to the media persons.
He was reacting to the question related to the letter written by KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala to the Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
KPCC president wrote a letter to chief minister stating that the government should not delay its primary responsibility of saving the people from the financial gloom by using all resources at hand. He criticized government for not effectively intervening in the market to arrest the price increase. Vayalar Ravi told that the reason behind price increase is not because of the new financial policies of the government. The present issue of the price increase can be overcome by the Government. Price increase is a phenomenon occurring occasionally. The hike in petrol and diesel prices is a result of global reverberations. We are dependent on imports for meeting our energy needs. “There is nothing wrong in the Union Government decision to decontrol the prices of petrol,” Vayalar Ravi said.. He also added the union government is initiating all possible measures and exploring possibilities to bring more foreign investments to the country. He also said that it is for the petroleum products that the government is providing more subsidies.
