Originally named Chiranjikal Abdul Khader.

Life Sketch
Born on April 7, 1925 as the son of Akkodu Shahul Hameed and Asuma Beevi in Chirayinkeezhu, Travancore, Pream Nazir was born as Chiranjikal Abdul Khader. Mother passed away when he was too young.He did his education from Kadanikulam Lower Primary School, Sri Chithiravilasam School, S.D College, Allapuzha and S.B.College, Changanassery. A known dramatist by this time he was adorned with his new name while he was acting in his second movie ‘Vishapinte Vili’. He died on January 16, 1989 at the age of 64.

Change of name
Prem Nazir got his name as such from Thikurissi Sukumaran who had also given new names to Bahadoor nad Ummer.

Film Industry
Prem Nazir’s debut performance was in the movie ‘Marumakan’ in 1952. Udaya and Merryland were the producers for most of his movies. The characters played by Prem Nazir was the epitome of the male concept.
He acted in 600 malayalam movies, 37 tamil movies, 7 telungu movies and 2 kannada films. He has starred with Sheela in 130 films which is an all time record. 39 movies of his got released in 1979. He acted in 700 movies with 85 heroines. He wanted to enter into politics but the assasination of Indira Gandhi hindered this.
Prem Nazir award was organised in his remembrance in 1992. He was awarded Padhmabhooshan by the President for his valuable contribution to Indian cinema. Dhwani was his last movie. His son Shanavas is also an actor. Prem Navas, his brother was also an actor.
