Persons Who Does Not Know English , Need Not Attend the Film Festival – Says Adoor Gopalakrishnan


Famous Director Adoor Gopalakrishnan gets involved in Controversy. He commented that those who have English knowledge need to attend the festival. This statement had invited controversy.
He said that who all watch the international film for the first time need not to attend the festival. He clarified his stand that The delegates should know English as the subtitles are given in English. Addressing the media he said that it is a wrong practice that any one with a delegate pass can view films.So Many Ineligible persons enter the premise and fill the seats while many eligible persons are waiting outside the theaters without the pass. Hence the director, has introduced a screening method for selecting delegates, who would be issued theater passes during the festival. This comment has lead to controversy.
Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan who took part in the press conference did not react to the question about the controversy. At the same time, he said that no one will be denied pass and told that the entry fees for the students has got reduced to Rs 300.
