Licensing For Street Traders.


New Delhi: The Bill which aims to protect and provide the job security for the street traders has been passed in the LokSabha. As per the new Bill,there will be a committee in towns to regulate the street trading. The license will be given to those eligible traders,after the review by the committee.The Municipal Corporation or the Police will not the authorized to remove these licensed traders.The Committee will comprise of Officers and representatives of street traders.There will be representatives for backward communities and women in the committee. Centers where in which street trading is there for more than 50 years will be considered as natural markets and license will be given to traders there.In case of situations to evacuate the traders the local administration have to give alternate place and infrastructure to them. There are directives on the rehabilitation also in the bill.Once in five years there have to be survey on the problems of street traders and actions have to be taken.With out giving them the alternate facilities , trading prohibited areas can not be demarcated.
