KSRTC Diesel Burden To Be Passed On To Government Temporarily

Thiruvanantthapuram:The proposal to hand over the KSRTC pumps on rent to SUPPLYCO may get complicated ,as per the evaluation. The process may take months, meanwhile the state government may take the burden of diesel temporarily. Though the time is tough for KSRTC,the record collection made during Onam season will lighten the situation to a certain extend.
The government plan is to get the subsidy by renting out the 67 pumps to SUPPLYCO.Last day on the meeting with Chief Minister the oil company officials agreed half minded but changed on Thursday. Now the move is to leave the proposal to Petroleum ministry. It was the oil companies themselves that put forward the suggestion not to give subsidy to state transport corporations ,being a major consumers. In that situation they will not take initiative to give subsidy to KSRTC.For the permission the state should put pressure on Union Government. If the permission is granted for the dealership SUPPLYCO has to remit a major amount for dealer license.Per day KSRTC is consuming 4.2 lakhs litres of diesel. The proposal is to hand over 67 pumps.SUPPLYCO has to get license for each pump and pay license fees. This will cause a major financial burden for the Corporation.
