Kochi: The KMRL Board of Directors approved the Project cost of Rs: 5537.25. The State and Central Govts: will contribute Rs: 233.87 crores each for the project. A budget of Rs: 199.16 crores has been approved for the current year. Over and above the normal share amount the central govt: will give another 30 crores for clearance of the loan amount. In the current financial year the state govt: has handed over 21 crores to the DMRC and the rest will be given as the project progresses, said the Chairman Sudheer Krishna.
KMRL has decided to authorize the Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES) for the feasibility study of the second stage expansion of the Metro Rail. They have to submit the report within eight months. This feasibility study costs Rs: 6.57 crores. The RITES will study the feasibility of extending the Metro Rail to Ankamali via Kakkanad, Nedumabasseri and to Thripoonithara.
