Mammootty starrer Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha directed by Hariharan for the story written by M T Vasudevan Nair, went on to become one of the super hit film of Malayalam cinema. This landmark film is going to come again. It is not the remake. On the eve of the films 25th annual celebration, the producer of the film PV Gnangadharan has announced the re release of the same super hit in the digital format.
The film won four National awards for the best actor, best screen play, best art direction and the best costume design. It also won 6 awards, including the best popular movie in the Kerala State Film Awards of 1989.
The film’s costume design and art direction has been done by P Krishna Murthy and these two categories getting the national award is appreciated . In the film Mammootty has played central character chandu and the the role of Unniyarcha is played by Madhavi. Besides them Suresh Gopi, Balan K Nair, Geetha, Captain Raju, Devan, Sreeraman, sukumari also plays the prominent role. The music of the film is composed by Bombay Ravi
